Pornography Addiction & Delta FosB

In this video, Dr. Trish Leigh discusses the Delta FosB transcription factor and pornography addiction.

What is Delta FosB?

It’s a transcription factor that goes along and can be related to the neurotransmitters that your brain is looking for from pornography. Therefore, we’re going to talk about how it impacts your need to go back for more porn and what you can do to try to quit porn.

How does it work?

Basically, when you start your habit it lays down the tracks of what we can the left fork in the row, which means the path that leads back to pornography and masturbation. It’s the one that your brain’s been taking for a long time. So when your habit was initialized a molecular switch was flipped and basically made these neural pathways. This transcription factor is similar to concrete laying itself down that fork in the road. That’s why it’s so easy for your brain to go back down that road. The Delta FosB is the concrete.

So as we start to lay the pathway for a new healthy brain that stays away from pornography and seeks out affection and sexuality in the world. We have to get over that pathway to the left to get to the right pathway.
