Why Neurofeedback Is Highly Effective To Treat Different Types of Anxiety

Neurofeedback (or biofeedback) is a form of therapy where a computer analyzes brainwaves and brain activity in a person and then the results are used to diagnose and treat their disorder, usually through sound or visuals. Many recent studies show that neurofeedback helps reduce anxiety in many people suffering from a variety of diseases and disorders. The benefits of neurofeedback can be found across many issues and have many useful applications.

  1. Phobias: After Neurofeedback treatment, people were able to consciously decrease their anxious feelings about the phobia they used to have.
  2. Medications: Another interesting study proposed that qEEG Brain Mapping was effective at imaging a brain’s pattern. These results could effectively be used to decide which medication would be best for an individual with anxiety, and how to use it. This psychopharmacological use has been proposed by experts in the field for a long time.
  3. Alcoholism due to Anxiety: Another study showed that Neurofeedback successfully helped anxious alcoholics in finally reducing their need for addiction.
  4. OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders): Those with contamination-type OCD experienced a large reduction in their feelings of compulsions and consequently in their behaviors.

Anxiety can manifest differently in different people, and on an ever-increasing scale. For example, a person can experience constant stress of everyday life, for example if they run multiple businesses while raising five children. There is anxiety that feels even “hotter,” if you will, not as constant but strong in the moment. This kind of anxiety usually occurs when we are under pressure to get something done quickly. Constant overachievement can do the same thing and cause both constant and momentary stress. Basically, their brain suffers because of the ongoing stress.

Villanova University has outlined a number of studies for different types of anxiety highlighting each’s effectiveness; similarly, Mental Health Daily has even more studies highlighted.

In a nutshell, Neurofeedback was particularly helpful in people with anxiety, helping them actively combat the roots of their anxieties and overcome it in large part, regardless of the specifics of the disorders.
