In this video, Dr. Trish Leigh explains how porn is addictive. Therefore porn is addictive. In the international classification of diseases the eleventh addition a few years back, compulsive hypersexuality was added as a disease.

What is the number one way hypersexuality is acted out?

The number one way that it’s acted out by a person is through pornography consumption. However, we know that from science. When you frequently consume pornography it creates hypersexuality and the need to go back for more. Although from a neuroscience perspective. We know that it goes back to brain activity and brain performance patterns. Therefore, a pornography addiction begins when you first start to consume pornography. Typically it’s generally at a young age.

How does a pornography addiction begin?

For a young brain, a part is hijacked by this supernormal stimulus that creates a flood of neurochemicals into the brain. However, normally someone is shown pornography and it releases this massive neurochemical relief. Immediately after the brain will try to calibrate itself to even out those levels to get the brain and body back to homeostasis. Therefore, the next time this young person goes back to watch pornography again. The brain actually needs more because of this rush of neurochemicals. The brain needs more to get the same reaction as before. That’s how quickly pornography can hijack the brain.
