Silent Tsunami of Porn

On earth day we think about decreasing emissions, cleaning up the ocean, not using pesticides, and of course, all those things are important. But from my standpoint, there is a silent tsunami that is already well on its way towards all of us and it is avoidable once we have the knowledge we’re empowered and we are inspired for change. That’s what this video is about.

What do I mean by silent tsunami?

First of all, nobody’s talking about this, or at least not many people which is why I’m here starting the conversation trying to put a picture and words to what is happening across the globe. So when I talk about a tsunami I’m talking about the damaging effects to your brain from pornography consumption and most people don’t even know that it’s happening hence the silent part. So we know it’s affecting everybody, the average age of porn use is down to 8 years old it used to be 11 years old. Therefore, it’s affecting children and teenagers. We know erectile dysfunction which used to be a disorder for the older man is now happening twice as much for the younger person as it did the older person 20 years ago. This is a tsunami and it’s heading for you and for me and for all of us.

What is the tsunami bringing?

We know it brings damaging effects to your brain so it decreases activity primarily in the frontal lobe, which makes it so that you can’t use executive function skills and we know that the dopamine receptors the d2 receptors are being desensitized. So now it’s difficult to use executive function skills that are putting smaller steps to be able to work slowly and gradually towards a larger goal that is being crushed by the tsunami.

Now people are going to the easy button for instant gratification. Therefore, going back to the screen to get this dopamine hit helps them escape the world but at the same time, they are desensitizing the reward center in your brain. Also dropping out activity in the frontal lobe very very damaging and if you’ve been affected by erectile dysfunction you know that when the reward center is desensitized then your brain needs a massive amount of stimulation to be able to feel pleasure. This leads to not only erectile dysfunction and difficulty being with a person in the real world but it leads to anxiety and depression because now life out in the real world can’t give you that dopamine hit.
